Sourcing
- We prefer first-party and official sources: the City of Beaumont, its official event service, the Port of Beaumont, TxDOT, and county emergency management.
- For history, we use established authorities such as the Texas State Historical Association, the Library of Congress, and university sources, and we name them.
- We cite sources visibly, near the claims they support, and we distinguish current, live information from evergreen background so you know which link to trust for what.
- We do not treat archived copies of former local websites as factual authorities.
Verification
Material factual claims are checked against a first-party or recognized authority before publication. When sources disagree or a figure could not be confirmed, we say so, attribute the figure to its source rather than stating it as our own, or leave it out. When something is genuinely uncertain, we frame it as a question the official source can answer rather than guessing.
What we do not do
- We do not invent statistics, hours, schedules, prices, events, quotes, ratings, or staff.
- We do not simulate live data: no fake traffic maps, camera feeds, dashboards, or charts.
- We do not sell tickets, book venues, or act as a referral or lead-generation service.
- We do not give legal advice.
- For public safety, we defer to current official instructions and state plainly that conditions and instructions can change.
Updating and dates
Where a date genuinely matters, such as a reopening or a construction timeline, we give it as approximate and tell you to confirm the current status with the official source. We would rather send you to a live page than let a stale number sit here looking authoritative.
Images
Photographs are documentary images of real Beaumont places. Each is optimized for the web from a licensed or public-domain original, and every image that legally requires attribution is credited on the image credits page. We note when an image shows a reconstruction rather than a historical scene.
Corrections
