Riverfront Park

Beaumont's downtown park on the Neches River, beside the vertical-lift railroad bridge, reopened in 2025 after years of flood-damage repairs. This is an independent guide with official sources for current hours and access.

The park and the river

Riverfront Park sits on the west bank of the Neches River at the edge of downtown Beaumont. It is a place to see the working river up close: barges and tows on the water, and the tall railroad bridge just downstream.

The lift bridge

The single-track railroad bridge beside the park is a vertical-lift truss structure built in 1941. Its central span rises between two towers to let river traffic pass, then lowers to carry freight trains across the Neches. The mechanics of that bridge, two towers and a lifted deck, are the basis for this atlas's wordmark. The bridge is an active rail structure; do not enter the tracks or the bridge.

Closure and reopening

The park was closed for several years after flooding associated with Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and underwent a major, largely federally funded restoration that rebuilt shoreline, walkways, and park structures. Local reporting placed the grand reopening in August 2025. Because reopening dates and current hours have shifted more than once, treat any date you read, including here, as approximate and confirm current status with the City before visiting.

Confirm before you go

Park hours, access points, and any weather or river-related closures are set by the City of Beaumont and can change quickly. Check the City's parks information for current status.
